Brief history of my Porsche 944S

The cars was purchased from Palm Import Motors in West Palm Beach, FL. on 5/9/1988 and remained with the original owner until we met last Saturday and bought after a short test drive. The odometer reads 94717 and of course is broken. After looking through the service records it looks to have stopped working around early 2000. So the mileage is unknown.

According to Wikipedia only 3312 1987 944s models were imported to the U.S. 1987 is the year the S was introduced which is the 16 valve engine or 16 ventiler.

A few things that drew me to this car were...
  1. A one owner car that came with a bunch of service records
  2. The dash only has very slight warping and no cracks
  3. It runs strong
  4. Pretty much completely stock down to the Blaupunkt Reno cassette deck
  5. Being a Florida car the body is in excellent shape
I have only driven it home from the buy and to work once after I got it titled. A few things that need to be addressed soon before any driving is done
  1. The cooling fans are not operating
  2. The car likes to drop below idle when coming off the gas and sometimes stalls but otherwise idles fine.
  3. Need to replace the valve cover gasket
  4. Tune up
  5. Back up lights are not working
The first goal is to get it road trip ready so we can drive it to Daytona for the Rolex 24 hours!
