A little win

After changing the leaky fuel line last week , Beth and I took the 944 on a "shake-down" drive Saturday morning. The car drove great. Still have a little idle issue but it's much better and no fuel pump noise, until right before were home.

This morning, after getting the pork shoulder on the grill, I decided to perform a fuel pressure check with the gauge I purchased from http://www.arnnworx.com,  I followed the procedure from (http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-01.htm). The fuel pressure checked out fine. At this point I'm going to drive and see how the fuel pump acts.

Next up, I tackled the issue of the why the warning bulb check and warning lights are not illuminating. After a lot Googling, I found out that led bulbs are polarity sensitive.  After looking at the bulbs, it looked like the contact points were not making proper contact. After much fussing, the lights are working!

I also attempted to align the new H4 headlights. I have no idea if I did it correctly. I will do some night driving to find out.

Oh yeah, a week ago I added some AC system sealant to see if it would take care of the AC leak. It was almost warm enough on Saturday, so I ran the AC and it still leaks. I can see the hose that's leaking so I might buy gauges and a vacuum to see if I can fix this.

Removing the fuel rail cap with catch rag in place to catch fuel. There should be a ball bearing inside the cap to seal it. Of course it was missing and plumbers tape was used on the threads instead by previous mechanic. I couldn't find the ball size Googling, so I stuck a 1/4 rear hub bearing in the cap and it seems to work. I will probably call the dealer tomorrow to see if the OEM ball is still available.

Jumping the DME relay. This runs the fuel pump without the engine running.

3.8 Bar give or take. Right in the ballpark

The left side warning lights! This was a big deal for me. I hate when the little things don't work.
